As we step into 2025, interiors are becoming more personal than ever. It’s less about following trends and more about creating authentic and tailored interiors that are uniquely yours. Although in my opinion and experience, interiors should always have a strong personal touch that differs from person to person. I view interior design as an opportunity to pour your soul onto a blank canvas. Show people who you are and what you embody through your home. Although we will still see popular trends from 2024 trickle into 2025, they have evolved to keep up with the change of tastes. Thankfully gone are the days of stark white walls, and thoughtless decisions, being replaced with intentional colours & designs.
Get used to hearing “Mocha mousse” & “Autumnal Hues” the colour trend for 2025 is all about rich but intimate & grounding, warm, bold colours. Including browns, creams, burnt oranges, mustard yellows, mossy greens and dark pinks. 2024’s earthy trends have trickled through into 2025’s predictions also, with touches of walnut, concrete, stone which are being complemented with aged brasses & rose golds. Adding a sophisticated and timeless charm to interior spaces.

Soft furnishings we predict to be seeing a lot of leathers being paired with velvets, creating a warmth of rustic charm. Western America is having a huge influence in our interiors from the likes of Yellowstone inspired from the Yellowstone ranch which shows us big tall ceilings, rich walnut floors & grand stone fireplaces. The cowboy aesthetic mixed with a cross-over of hip hop and country music started its trend in 2024 however has had a slow roll into 2025 where we will start to see it pull through. We are also expecting to see a lot of pattern on pattern and texture piled on texture. Adding the “homey” and “lived in” feel. Adding to our soft furnishing trend is the return of heavy drapery, not only is it a functional item it’s also becoming an art form with the opportunity to add colour and pattern to your space. Drapery is also perfect for softening hard edges. Pair a heavy drape with a soft sheer to pull in that calming feel.
Furniture will take on an organic shape with soft & rounded edges, adding to the calming aesthetic of 2025. We will see a lot of vintage finds and second hand furniture as statement pieces adding a sense of history and character to spaces.
The lighting trend will have geometric shapes and symmetrical lines. Lighting that throws shadows, patterns and shapes. The return of wall sconses being used as mood lighting throughout homes adding sophistication and drama to spaces. Bathrooms will start to venture away from minimalistic designs and move into bold designs that really make a statement. With a mixture of the stackbond layout we saw in 2024 & colour blocked forms creating striking contrasts being used on both walls and flooring. We will also start to see the return of Travertine adding to the earthy trend bringing with it the sophistication we will see in the colour trends for 2025.
Kitchens trends from 2024 are predicted to evolve into 2025 with the calming, cosy and intentional, lived in feel. Kitchens have moved from the modern, minimalist, functional spaces to warm, cottage-core, farmhouse inspired designs. With classic cabinetry such as shaker cupboard fronts, Bold stone benchtops & provincial tapware. The exciting part of this perfectly imperfect trend is that no matter the size of your home this aesthetic is achievable in any size space making it a dream trend for tiny homes.
